Our Award Winning Chef

Head chef and owner, Mel Mountfield has an impressive background of experience, working with some of the greats such as Fergus Henderson at St John, Clerkenwell and Jamie Oliver at Fifteen. Prior to opening Roost in May 2016, she oversaw the opening of the Falstaff Restaurant in Ramsgate, coming from the reputable Hotel Endsleigh in Devon.

We are an award winning Family Dining restaurant and take this very seriously as well as being very dog friendly. We have a large basement area where children and families can go to eat, play or just hang out prior to eating or to wind down afterwards.

As much as possible, we try to source our food and drink from local suppliers:

Seafood from Fruits de Mer in Broadstairs

Fruits de Mer in Broadstairs have 15 boats going out from Ramsgate to catch the lobsters we serve throughout the summer (3.5 miles)

The Butcher of Brogdale in Faversham believe in sourcing meat from local and reputable suppliers to ensure excellent, traceable provenance (26 miles)

Real Deal Roasters in Deal only roast carefully selected single origin coffee beans and all their coffees are pure (no added flavours), some are fair trade (or even beyond fair trade) and some are organic (16 miles)

Curious Brew lager fermented with champagne yeast, and Curious Apple cider made with 100% pure Kent apple juice from the Chapeldown Winery in Tenterden (50 miles)

Merry Margate and Pale Ale Mary from Northdown Brewery in Thanet (2 miles)

Skylark from Kentish Pip is an award winning sparkling cider made from Kentish dessert apples (16 miles)

Kingsdown Sparkling Pressés are made from sparkling spring water from the Kingsdown source on the North Downs and meticulously sourced juices (17 miles)

Tarts from Never Mind the Cupcakes, an artisan baking business based in Margate, producing a range of cakes, tarts and treats using high quality ingredients, locally sourced where possible (1 miles)

Anno Gin from the Anno Distillery in Marden, Kent, incorporates luscious local botanicals synonymous with the idyllic Kent Countryside, such as hops, samphire and local florals to create an outstanding super-smooth gin with a unique flavour of Kent (50 miles)

Vela Vodka is crafted in small batches by the Copper Rivet Distillery in Chatham, using hand selected early harvest Kentish wheat, barley and rye, which is carefully distilled using chalky Kent water before being charcoal filtered for our vodka (45 miles).
